PLB20151 Technical Vaseline for Brose drive belt lubrication

Description

Both sides of the Brose carbon fibre belt should be liberally lubricated with ”technical” petroleum jelly. Failure to do so will result in high belt wear and temperature and may cause excessive noise.

Technical petroleum jelly is a non-corrosive mixture of oils and long-chain non-polar hydrocarbons, but generally thicker than pharmaceutical petroleum jelly. The low melting point of this product ensures re-lubrication if the belt dries out and starts to heat up.

Best applied with a small brush (an old toothbrush is ideal).

NOTE: Not to be used with Brose Polymer harness, which will be installed on some models from 2021 onwards. The polymer belt must be installed dry. Polymer webbing looks shiny on the back, brownish and feels slippery.

Tip: Don't bend the polymer strap too much.
