These are common bearings in Bosch ebike Active and Performance Line / CX motors. These bearings most commonly fail due to wear or water ingress. We can also supply O-rings and small parts for these motors. If you cannot find the part you are looking for, contact us, I am sure we can help.

Generation 2
• Gen 2 Active Line 48 Nm 2014 – 2018 Mostly fitted to hybrid and city bikes. The earliest motors are silver and the later ones black.
• Gen 2 Performance Line 50 Nm for hub gears, 63 Nm for rear derailleur 2014–2019. The motor is fitted to hybrid and city bikes and some early EMTB bikes. Early motors were silver, later ones black.
• Gen 2 Performance Line CX 75 Nm 2017–2019 Fitted mostly to EMTB and a few road bikes, this motor was fitted until 2019 and was directly succeeded by the Bosch Gen 4 motor; it is often confused with the Gen 3 bike motor.
Does a Bosch motor need regular servicing?
Bosch motors are not designed to be serviced, and they should only be repaired if a fault occurs. The motors are sealed and, kept dry, they run over 80,000 km without problems.
My Bosch motor sounds a little rough, should I keep riding until it stops working?
No! If you can hear your motor making extra noise while riding, it is already too late! The bearings are damaged, the balls inside the bearing wear quickly and as they wear they get smaller, which makes the bearing seals lift from the inner/outer race, letting water and dirt straight into the motor! All Ebike motors fail this way. Do not ignore changes in the noise level of your motor, as there is a limit to what can be repaired.
Why do bearings fail, are they of poor quality?
Useimpiin Bosh-moottoreihin asennetut laakerit ovat erittäin hyvälaatuisia ja hyvin tiivistettyjä, mutta vaikka laakeri on luokiteltu “tiivistetyksi”, se ei ole vesitiivis! Ne ovat parhaimmillaan veden- ja pölynkestäviä. Tämä pätee 99 %:lla markkinoilla olevista Ebike-moottoreista.
Why do manufacturers not seal Ebike motors against water and dirt?
Sealing the motor at the design stage would be very easy, but seals increase drag and battery consumption. Competitively, it would be bad for a manufacturer to launch a motor that achieves 2 km less range than its competitors.
My engine is squeaking whether it's the bearings
• Laakerit jyrisevät, jauhavat ajoittain tai takertuvat. Ne eivät yleensä narise. Narisemisen aiheuttaa yleensä jokin seuraavista:

Can I get additional sealing for my Gen 4 motor?
There is currently no additional protection for the Gen 4 motor. but this motor already has quite good seals fitted as new. They need to be removed and re-greased from time to time, which depends on riding conditions, your cleaning habits, weather conditions etc.
Will the tuning damage or wear parts on my Bosch motor?
Huollossa ei ole havaittu, että rajoituksenpoistolaitteen käyttö olisi aiheuttanut moottorille vaurioita.

Can I change the engine to a newer model?
